First up on our weekly review, we head for some more mid-week action;
**EACCL Race 3 – Caister beach**
It wasn’t 🌨snow🌨 this week with the 🥶sub-zero conditions🥶 – our WACers had extremely strong gale force winds🌬💨 on the 🏖coast🏖 this time for the EACCL - East Anglian Cross Country League race 3! We had 16 WACers taking part on the day and our first three females home on the short route were Juliette Watkinson was first WACer & 1st overall, followed by Claire Brown (2nd female) & Kate Gooding (4th female) – our top three finishing in the top 4 of the short route.
In the Longer route our Team A quartet were Matt Webster finishing 5th overall – Matt was followed home by Adam Baker (9th), Will Parker (12th) & David Powles (13th) to provide another strong scoring day for the club. Well done to all that ran on the day in testing / brutal conditions! 🙌🏻
Next up we stay on the trails for Race 2 of the new Broadland Country Park XC series;
**Broadland Country Park Cross Country Series – Race 2**
The second race of the new XC series saw 5 WAC runners taking on the nearly 10k route – first home for WAC and overall was Chris Gay (34:46) followed by Adrian Hall (40:31), Gareth Seville (42:39), Martin Jones (48:29) & Tracie Draeger (49:15) – well done to all our runners and well done to our age category winners Chris Gay 1st🥇🏆 Overall, Adrian Hall 1st🥇 M60, Gareth Seville 1st🥇 Male Senior, & Tracie Draeger 1st🥇 F60. 🙌🏻
Elsewhere was the final Positive Steps Events event from near the Ixworth Estate;
**St Edmunds Trail event**
The event hosting a half marathon and full marathon distance was attended by 8 WACers – within the half marathon event Todd Lake (93:13) was first WAC home finishing 5th overall. Todd was followed home by Claire Brown (1:53:29), Robbie Starling (1:53:29), Keith Blake (1:55:15), Kimberley Powles (2:02:01), Kevin Denmark (2:02:13) & Lian Penson (2:11:22). Within the marathon we had a soul entrant; Kevin Simpson took part in his first ever marathon and smashed out a brilliant time of 3:53:56 on the trail for a 6th place finish overall – Well done Kev! Also congratulations to our age category winners within the half; Todd Lake 1st🥇 M60-64, Claire Brown 1st🥇 F60-64, Robbie Starling 1st🥇 M55-59, Keith Blake 2nd🥈 M60-64, Kimberley Powles 1st🥇 F40-44 & Kevin Denmark 2nd🥈 M65+. 🙌🏻
