W/E 28.09.24 - Successful WAC Berlin Marathon with two club records falling!

Lastly on our weekly review – Zoe wasn’t our only Marathon warrior 💪🏻 from this weekend, as we travel across the English Channel into 🇩🇪Germany🇩🇪;

**Berlin Marathon 2024**

We had 8 members over on the continent racing around the German capital and the 50th rendition of the Berlin Marathon. First home for WAC was Aidan Banfield (PB🎖️ CR🏅) in an astonishing time of 2hrs 27min 49sec, achieving yet another brilliant personal best over the distance but taking almost another 4 minutes off his overall club record from earlier this year in London. Next home was Matthew Webster (PB🎖️) in a time of 2hrs 48min 50sec, dipping under the three hour mark for the second time this year! Matt was closely followed home by our first WAC female and our second of three club records on the day, Harriet Carr (PB🎖️ CR🏅) – notching up yet another Personal best over the distance with a brilliant time of 2hrs 51min 9sec and consolidating her overall club record too by shaving off another 26 seconds.

Next home was the father of the ‘father & son’ Banfield duo; Mark Banfield (PB🎖️) raced home in a time of 2hrs 57min 54sec, achieving a well-earned PB in the process. Hot on Mark’s heels was James Fowler who returned home in 2hr 58min 15sec just before our third club record WACer – Todd Lake (PB🎖️ CR🏅). Todd finished the 26.2 miles in a time of 3hrs 3min 47sec to claim the M60-64 club record by nearly 20 minutes.

Our next WAC member home was our 2nd female, Kate Gooding, in a time of 3hrs 8min 59sec adding another great time over the distance to her résumé. Last but not least was Mark Armstrong (PB🎖️), completing the round-up of the 6 Personal bests that were achieved on the day with a brilliant time of 3hrs 19min 59sec, nearly shaving 7 minutes off his previous outing in the German capital and an extremely well-deserved Personal best to come home with!
