W/E 23.11.24 - Larking Gowen Norwich Half marathon

Next up on our weekly review was the big event from the week before;

**Larking Gowen Norwich Half Marathon**

Another Good Running Events Ltd. saw the rekindling of the Norwich Half marathon from the Norfolk Showground & Events Centre, the first time it had been arranged since the COVID rearranged event from 2020 when it was a City of Norwich AC event. Although 🌪Storm Bert🌪 release some strong gusts 🌬💨🏃‍♀️🏃 throughout the morning, the winds were not as problematic as the ⛰undulating hills⛰ throughout the second half of the course.

68 WAC members made their way around the countryside course with our first member home being Kevin Holland in a time of 81:52, followed by Chris Bullock (AGPB🎖️ – 84:13) and Jacob Kenworthy (84:42). Our first WAC female was Gemma Barnes in a time of 92:54, followed by Alexandra Ely (93:32) & Eloise Peek (PB🎖️ - 97:48).

We also had loads of new 🚨shiny🚨 Personal bests & Age Category Personal bests to shout about – firstly our PB’ers were; Eloise Peek (PB🎖️ ), Ami Russell (PB🎖️ – 98:37), Jon Shoots (PB🎖️ – 1:43:23), Lisa Greengrass (PB🎖️ – 1:43:55), Dani Gilbert (PB🎖️ – 1:48:08), Kevin Denmark (PB🎖️ – 1:49:54), Pete Sharpe (PB🎖️ – 1:56:05), James Heaney (PB🎖️ – 1:58:13) & Michelle Sadler (PB🎖️– 2:17:39). Our AGPB’ers were; Chris Bullock (AGPB🎖️), Billy Wheeler (AGPB🎖️ – 91:44), Ben Smith (AGPB🎖️ – 92:22), Tim Seville (CR🏅 AGPB🎖️ – 93:05), Elise Aho (AGPB🎖️ – 2:01:55). Katie Whitmore (AGPB🎖️ – 2:06:18), Rachel Chester (AGPB🎖️ – 2:12:59) & Suzanne Moore (AGPB🎖️ – 2:50:40). Congratulations to TIm who also set a new Club record in the M65-69 category!

We also had numerous age category winners; Kevin Holland 2nd🥈 M45-49, Chris Bullock 2nd🥈 M50-54, Gemma Barnes 3rd🥉 F40-44, Tim Seville 1st🥇 M65-69 Alexandra Ely 1st🥇 F45-49 (93:32) & Claire Brown 2nd🥈 F60-64 (1:42:34).

Well done to all that ran and the WACers listed above – a lovely day out by all and hopefully the car parking chaos🚘🚖🚦🦺 of prior / post run (acknowledged by the organisers) will be sorted for next year to complete the brilliant event.
