W/E 18.01.25 - Folksworth 15 miler & Windmill Ultra

Next up on our weekly we review our Saturday race from Bury St. Edmunds;

**Windmill Way Wander**

The trail event hosted by Zig Zag Running events from west of Bury St. Edmunds was attended by Maria Boyall Lewis. Maria, who accompanying her friend, completed her first Ultra in a time of 6hrs 28mins & 8seconds – Well done Maria! 🙌🏻

Elsewhere from outside of the county;

**Folksworth 15 Mile Race**

Five WAC members made the journey to west Cambridgeshire, just south of Peterborough, to compete in the 34th edition of the annual 15-mile race, hosted by Yaxley Runners & Joggers. The event featured a two-lap route across an 🏔️undulating🏔️ country road course, which included three steep hills on each lap😳😳.

Leading the way for WAC was Harriet Carr  (CR🏅), finishing in 99:58. She was followed by Kevin Frazer  (1:51:55), Claire Brown (CR 🏅– 1:56:46), Robbie Starling (1:57:33), and Hannah John (2:14:59). Congratulations to all of you for your strong performances! 🙌🏻

Special congratulations to Harriet for her 5th place finish in the female category and 1st🥇 place in the F35 category, along with setting a new Club record🏅. Harriet’s new time of 99:58 surpasses the overall female record, set in 2003 by Veronica Manley (1:49:22), and the F35-39 record last broken in 1993 by Elize Hartendorp (2:06:39).

Claire Brown also earned a double recognition, securing 1st🥇 place in the F60 category and setting a new Club record🏅. Claire's time of 1:56:46 breaks the previous F60 record, set 25 years ago in 2000 by WAC legend Anne Martin (2:04:52). Well done to both Harriet and Claire on their new records! 🙌🏻
