W/E 09.11.24 - Remembrance 5k, Stowmarket Scenic 7 & George Munday 10k

Up first on our Weekly review we will mix it up and start with a road race in the midst of the XC season!

**🎖️Remembrance 5k🎖️**

On Saturday we had two members travelled to North Essex, to a familiar location to our members, ✈️Debden airfield✈️ – in recent years we have had numerous members representing 🇩🇪 Athletics Norfolk  🇩🇪 at the inter-counties 20 mile event & in the half marathon hosted there last year at the same time. The host of the event, ATW , had elected for a 5k event this year and Matt Webster & Mark Armstrong were in attendance to represent WAC. Matt was first home in a time of 16:45 and finished 3rd 🏆🥉 overall with Mark (18:40) finishing shortly afterwards in 10th place & 3rd🥉 M40 home – Well done you two! 🙌🏻

Slightly up the road in Suffolk this time;

**Stowmarket Scenic 7**

Not happy with just the 5k on the Saturday, Matt & Mark were joined by Kate Gooding & Alexandra Ely in Suffolk for the event hosted by Stowmarket Striders Running Club – the four WAC members made their way around the Scenic route with Matt Webster first home in a time of 40:52 to finish 9th overall. Next home for WAC was Mark Armstrong (46:17), followed quickly by Kate Gooding (47:01) & Alexandra Ely (47:14). Kate finished 3rd female🏆🥉 overall & Alex was 5th, picking up 1st🥇 F45 along the way - Well done you four! 🙌🏻

Still on the road and staying outside Norfolk;

**George Munday 10k**

The 🎖️Remembrance Day🎖️ event named after a decorated former resident is hosted out of Leverington Sports and social club in Cambridgeshire and ran by Three Counties Running Club. WAC had two members in attendance with Peter Morgan (PB🎖️) first home in a time of 39:07 followed quickly by Kevin Simpson (PB🎖️ – 39:50), with both of them achieving new 🚨shiny🚨 Personal bests after dipping under the 40 minute mark – well done you two! 🙌🏻
