First up on our weekly review, we head back a fortnight ago for three events over the weekend;
**The Big Half**
The half marathon event organised by London Marathon Events had three WAC representatives; The 13.1 mile course weaves through 🏴London🏴 from Tower Bridge to the iconic Cutty Sark in Greenwich and encompasses segments of the London marathon. 1st home for WAC was Robbie Starling in a time of 1:46:43, followed quickly by Keith Blake (1:47:23) and Paul Timson (3:21:45) completing the WAC trio.
Well done you three! 🙌🏻
**Harling 10k**
Slightly closer to home, in fact just down the road, the local 10k race organised by Harling Athletics Club , we had 14 WACcers taking on the flat 10k route with a 2km trail segment included. First back for WAC was David Houghton in a time of 39:07, followed by Kevin Simpson (PB 🎖️– 42:54) & Shaun Braybrook (43:07). Our first WAC female was the inform Eloise Peek in a time of 43:23, followed by Maria Boyall (44:09) & Susan Guest (54:35) completing our first three home.
The solitary 🚨Personal Best🚨 on the day was the flying Kevin Simpson – Well done Kev. However there were numerous winners / age category winners throughout the WAC field. Eloise Peek was 2nd female 🏆🥈home with Maria Lewis just behind as 3rd female🏆🥉. David Houghton 1st 🥇M50-54, Kevin Frazer 2nd 🥈M60-64 (44:42), Kevin Denmark 1st 🥇M65-69 (50:59), Andrew Lane 3rd 🥉M65-69 (53:28), Susan Guest 1st 🥇F60-64, Tracie Draeger 2nd 🥈F60-64 (56:33) & Tracy Stevens 2nd 🥈F55-59 (57:21) – Well done you lot! 🙌🏻
Well done also to Raymond Gayne (51:33), Sam Barry (56:37) & Emma Jaggs (75:10). 🙌🏻
**Wissey Festival of Running**
The new 5 / 10mile events replacing the old half marathon ran by Ryston Runners AC – we had three runners over the two events – Mr & Mrs Moore taking on the 5mile race and Louise McDonnell the solo WACcer in the 10 mile event. In the 5 mile event Ian Moore was first WAC home in a time of 32:43 finishing 10th over & 1st 🥇M55 with Suzanne joining him over the line in a time of 53:33. Louise McDonnell romped home in a time of 67:56 to finish 12th home overall & 2nd Female 🏆🥈home overall – Well done you three! 🙌🏻
Next up are the two events from this weekend;
**Great North Run**
We had eleven members venture up to Tyneside for the Great North Run – always a very popular event amongst the club and a shame it clashed with Run Norwich this year – Kevin Powles was first WAC home in a time of 95:06, followed closely by Richard Broughton (99:38) & Trent Terry (1:44:16) Our first WAC females were Jo Delf & Rachel Birrell in a dead heat of 1:47:36 – bringing Dan Brocklehurst along for company…. Can you spot our new WAC member they recruited 🏴🏃🏼♀️? Next in were David Evans (2:07:25), Katy Whiting (2:20:59), Lauraine Powles (2:33:18), Scott Robinson (2:38:22) & Lisa Rodgers (2:46:41). Well done everyone!🙌🏻
