W/E 04.01.25 - Norfolk Cross Country County Championships 2025

Next up on our weekly review – an event that excites our XC captain;

**Norfolk Cross Country County Championships**

Always a highlight on the XC calendar, the Norfolk Cross Country Championships, held by Athletics Norfolk, introduced a new course at the Earlham Park venue this year; moving away from the previous three lap course to a new two lap route. WAC had a club record 43 finishers on the day and many more members around the route cheering the hardworking runners on.

1st home for WAC was Aidan Banfield, finishing 5th overall, in a time of 31:16. Aidan was followed home by Matt Webster (34:20) & Steven Mcnicholas (34:48). Our 1st WAC female home was Juliette Watkinson, finishing 4th female, in a time of 38:21. Jet was followed home by Alexandra Ely (41:22) & Lisa Greengrass (43:36) to complete our top 3 females.

We had numerous age category winners over the field, this include; Matt Webster 1st 🥇M35-39, Steven McNicholas 2nd🥈M40-44, Adam Baker 3rd🥉 M50-54 (37:03), Juliette Watkinson 1st 🥇F40-44, Alex Ely 1st🥇 F45-49, Kevin Powles 3rd🥉 M55-59 (43:00), Tim Seville 1st🥇 M65-69 (43:04), Lisa Greengrass 2nd🥈 F45-49, Claire Brown 1st🥇 F60-64 (44:06), Caroline Houghton 2nd🥈 F50-54 (46:18), Tracie Draeger 3rd🥉 F60-64 (51:46), Graham Walsh 1st🥇 M75-79 (54:48) & the legend that is Eva Osborne 1st🥇 F80+ (61:16). We even managed three team prizes: - With our W35-39 team taking 1st🥇 place, the team comprised of Juliette Watkinson🥇, Alexandra Ely🥇 & Lisa Greengrass🥇. Our M50+ team finishing 1st place🥇, the team comprised of Adam Baker🥇, David Houghton 🥇(37:43) & Mark Banfield 🥇(38:19). Lastly our W50+ team finished 2nd🥈 place, the team comprising of Claire Brown🥈, Caroline Houghton🥈 & Sam Bee 🥈(50:16).

Congratulations to all listed above, however a massive well done to all the members that took part on the day and absolutely smashed it on a gruelling course – you are all legends! 💯👊🏻
