W/E 02.11.24 - East Coast USA & Norfolk - NY Marathon

Last but not least on our weekly review we head to the 🇺🇸East coast🇺🇸;

**🗽New York Marathon & New York 5k Dash🏙**

We had a WAC contingent in the 🍎Big Apple🍎 for the TCS New York City Marathon hosted by New York Road Runners (NYRR) last weekend – The trio of Hilary Byrne, Caroline Pocock & Rachael Lockwood took on one of the Abbott Major marathons – this popular event starts on the Verrazzano–Narrows Bridge on Staten Island and passes through Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx, before finishing in Central Park. Hilary made it around first in a time of 4:27:45 before Caroline and Rachael appeared shortly afterwards in a time of 4:33:01 – well done you three! 🙌🏻

Also in ‘the city that never sleeps’ Kevin Denmark managed the marathon line finish, however for the Abbott Dash New York 5k the day prior – racing around in a time of 24:45 before performing his supporting duties the next day. 🙌🏻

Next up head out east but in Norfolk this time;

**East Coast 10k**

We had 15 WACers on the ⛱🏖Seaside🏖⛱ last Sunday for the 10k event hosted by Great Yarmouth Road Runners and the ☀️beautiful conditions☀️ were enjoyed by all – first home for WAC was Chris Gay in a time of 35:37, quickly followed by Harriet Carr (37:51).

We had 4 new 🚨shiny🚨 Personal bests registered on the day; William Parker (PB🎖️ – 39:54), Kevin Simpson (PB🎖️ – 40:00), Eloise Peek (PB🎖️ – 42:43) & Fay Sterling (PB🎖️ 54:34). Along with the new PBs, there was also a new Club record as Tim Seville (CR🏅 – 40:54) added another record to his CV. We also had 4 age category placers- Chris Gay 2nd🥈 M40-44, Harriett Carr 2nd🏆🥈female overall, Tim Seville (CR) 1st🥇 M65+ & Kevin Frazer (41:47) 2nd🥈 M60-64. We also received the Female senior team prize for the trio of Harriet, Eloise & Fay! 🏆
