Marathon season continues... this time from Chicago and Chester!
We had more marathon runners for this week after some brilliant efforts from Berlin a fortnight ago – this time 7 runners took on the gruilling 26.2 mile event in two separate events. Firstly we had Adam Masterson (3:23:44) & Gavin Hall (4:53:59) at the Chester Marathon event – Gavin completing his 11th marathon of the year, one more left to complete his 12 in 12 challenge for charity ( https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/gavins12in12 - raising money for Race Against Dementia ).
Next up we had 5 members who travelled across the pond to USA for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon – Keith Blake carried on his major marathon feast completing the course in 4:17:04, two weeks after running Berlin. Mark Banfield was able to secure his marathon target of under the three hour mark by legging it for the last 300 metres with the clock ticking away – his sprint to the line meant he finished the course in 2:59:57 – reaching marathon training plan perfection for a sub-3hour!
Our first three of Aidan Banfield (MS - 2:33:53), Adam Baker (M50 - 2:45:48) & Harriet Carr (F35 - 2:51:35) all set new club records for the distance – Aidan & Harriet’s efforts are overall club records for each gender along with PBs for their amazing performances in the Windy City.
Well done to all seven of you – amazing work on the day and the dedication for months prior to the event to accomplish what you set out to achieve. Good luck to our next round of marathon runners this coming weekend as we see members travel North & for the The Yorkshire Marathon & the TCS Amsterdam Marathon.
