** ELY NEW YEAR'S EVE 10K **
This week we firstly review the New Year's Eve 10ks - The furthest west of the NYE races was in Little Downham for the Ely 10k hosted by Ely Runners - the lovely flat course was hampered by severe wind which made miles 3-5 extremely tough work, however the traditional Bagpipes at 9k prior to the tail wind back to the finish line assisted for a quick finish. 9 WACers took on the countryside route and the first WAC home was Matt Webster (36:37); the first female WAC was Kate Gooding (41:12). Personal Bests were registered on the day by Josh Brown 🎖️(38:57) & James Heaney 🎖️(48:05).
** MARHAM RUNNERS NEW YEAR'S EVE 10K **
Slightly Closer to home but still out West, 13 WACers took on the RAF Marham airfield 10k - which had similar conditions to the Ely race. The first WACer home was Billy Wheeler (36:12) and the first female WACer was Louise McDonnell (39:14). Personal Bests were registered by Billy Wheeler 🎖️ and Gareth Seville 🎖️(37:55). Age categories wins by Louise McDonnell 1st🥇F45-49 & Susan Guest (51:28) 1st🥇F60-64 plus Billy Wheeler finished 2nd🥈M45-49.
